Notes
Perfect for student pilots and weekend warriors, this bag was designed around the beginning pilot. Enough space for a headset and books, yet small enough to not throw off your weight and balance. The most important feature students wanted: price. Put more cash towards flight training and less towards gear with the Crosswind Flight Gear Bag.
The outside of the bag majors in simplicity. A water bottle holder keeps your mouth from getting dry on those bumpy summer days, but can also accommodate a bottle of windshield cleaner. Three pen/pencil loops keep your writing utensils close by, but are also perfect for sliding in one of the temples of your sunglasses. The back side of the Crosswind Bag has two chart pockets to keep your sectional charts from getting messed up with other gear.
The front pocket is generously sized to fit most logbooks, while the oversized, padded headset pocket on the end will accommodate almost all general aviation headsets. Lined with a soft felt material, your expensive headset will be protected from hard crosswind landings. The small slash pocket on the exterior of the headset pocket is perfect for a flashlight or fuel tester.
The cavernous center compartment has plenty of room for books and a kneeboard, and the U-shaped zipper makes it easy to access everything inside. Two internal side pockets keep small gear organized, while a padded iPad pocket keeps a tablet handy. Optional embroidery is available on the top flap of the Crosswind bag.
A unique Gear Mod wall is found at the back of the main pocket. This wall was specifically designed with a soft, velvet-like material. This is perfect for attaching Gear Mods, independent pockets that attach with hook and loop fasteners and make it easy to further customize your Flight Gear bag. Need an extra pocket for a backup battery? There’s a Gear Mod for that.
The small details are where this bag really shines. Thick plastic hardware allows the bag to be sturdy, yet lightweight. The unique crosshatch fabric is ripstop and moisture resistant. While you can’t go deep sea diving with it, you can run from the plane to the FBO in the rain. Small loops are found underneath the carrying handle and are perfect for hanging sunglasses or attaching gear with carabiners. The high visibility interior keeps small items from getting lost in the dark corners of your bag.

Sporty’s Flight Gear Bags- You can pay more, but you won’t find a better bag
Sporty’s Flight Gear bags have set the standard in aviation for nearly three decades. With pilot-friendly designs and high-quality craftsmanship, tens of thousands of pilots have trusted Flight Gear to protect and organize their gear, from first lesson to airline cockpit.
But we’re never satisfied, so we’re always looking to improve our products. After all, we have the best test pilots in the world: you, our customer. Thousands of pilot reports, good and bad, have been painstakingly reviewed to find the features most wanted in a flight bag.
The result is our latest generation of Flight Gear bags, brand new for 2021. Each of these bags represents the ultimate combination of rugged construction, thoughtful design, and affordable prices. You can pay more, but you won’t find a better flight bag.
Unmatched Durability
What good is a bag if it doesn’t last? There are few things more annoying than a broken zipper or a ripped seam, which is why we work directly with the factory to ensure these bags will meet or exceed the high expectations of pilots everywhere. Reinforced handles, non-slip shoulder straps, quick-grab zipper pulls, padded iPad pockets, and strengthened hardware make Sporty’s Flight Gear bags ideal for any mission.
Light Weight
While durability is extremely important, pilots always stress about weight. These new bags needed to be lightweight, but without sacrificing quality. We found the perfect balance of lighter fabric and hardware, without skimping on the zippers or stitching. The result is the lightest line of bags we’ve ever produced, because useful load is for passengers and fuel, not flight bags.
Pilot-centric Design
Aviation has changed drastically in the last 10 years—bags designed to carry 40 pounds of paper charts have given way to smaller, smarter bags for electronics. Sporty’s latest generation of Flight Gear bags feature custom pockets for storing and protecting headsets and iPads, not Jepp binders. We also added lots of organization for cables and other small gear, so important tools don’t get lost.
High Visibility Interior
A spacious bag won’t help you stay organized if you can’t find your gear. Flight Gear bags feature high visibility interiors, so your pilot supplies won’t be hiding in a dark corner when you really need them.
Customizable Add-ons
Every pilot has their own list of must-have items for flying, so flight bags must be customizable. We’ve accomplished this goal with a line of optional accessory pockets, called Gear Mods, that can be moved from one bag to another. After all, searching for a charging cable and backup battery pack can be a real pain in a tight cockpit.
Personalization Options
Your bag should have your name on it. Sporty’s offers optional custom embroidery on all Flight Gear bags, perfect for initials, names, or N-numbers. We can make your bag distinctively yours.
