At the conclusion of every quarter, we like to reflect on some of the more notable products that joined Sporty’s offering. Below are the top ten new products we’re excited to offer to our customers from the third quarter of 2022, from charging accessories to a new training course.
Flight Gear 2-in-1 Dual USB Charger
This multi-function charger contains a foldable cigarette lighter plug compatible with both aircraft and cars (12 and 24V) and a foldable wall plug for use with 115V plugs at home. Offers a USB-A and a USB-C port for charging cables to plug into. Great for the road, air, or the destination.
MyGoFlight iPad Mini 6 Sport Case
The iPad Mini 6 is finding a lot of traction with the aviation community and MyGoFlight is well known for offering ways to protect these devices. This case is a mix of minimalism and durability, constructed of black poloycarbonate and compatible with all MGF mounting systems.
Flight Gear iPad Backup Battery
This 20,000mAh battery has enough juice to recharge an iPhone six times, and can even power a laptop—every plug is a high amp output, suitable for iPads and ADS-B receivers. Three charging in ports and four power out ports are a pleasant surprise due to how small the battery is.
Flight Gear Universal Aviator's Light
What appears like a headlamp is actually a lot more. White and red LEDs can be actived independently with two easily distinguished buttons, and a dual-axis rotating hinge makes any angle or direction of light possible. Headband is included but it also features a clip attachment if a shirt pocket or seatbelt fixture is preferred.
Garmin GFC 500 Autopilot Essentials eLearning Course
The GFC 500 autopilot is becoming more and more popular on GA flight decks. This eLearning course by Garmin offers comprehensive instruction to help pilots better understand all the features and abilities of this powerful tool.
Digital Portable Battery Tester
A lot of devices pilots use are powered by alkaline batteries. It’s not uncommon to have multiple sizes of battery rolling around in the bottom of a flight bag. Now you can easily test AAA, AA, C, D, and 3v lithium button cell batteries in a matter of seconds.
Flight simulators are great for piloting a digital aircraft, but trying to operate avionics with a mouse can quickly lead to frustration. The RealSimGear GNS430 brings the avionics stack to your desk. Bezels and buttons operate the same way as they would in an actual aircraft, helping the pilot to better use simulator avionics and learn their logic.
The newest headset from Lightspeed packs a lot of new features into a noticeably light package. It’s the first headset on the market to feature an internal carbon monoxide detector, which makes it impossible to forget activating a CO sensor. Additionally, the Delta Zulu has custom audio profiles and flexible power options.
The latest version of X-Plane features an update to aerodynamic profiles, as well as an overhaul of the weather engine. Twenty two aircraft are provided with X-Plane 12, with multiple helicopters and seaplanes among the extensive fleet. X-Plane 12 is unique in that it will work on both PC and Mac and there’s a convenient demo mode to try the program before you buy.
Sporty’s 2022 Christmas Ornament
Every year Sporty’s designs a new ornament for the year, highlighting a unique aircraft in aviation history. Some years an anniversary drives our decision, some years it was an inspirational landing at the airport that persuades our choice. This year we chose the aircraft that the Civil Aeronautics Administraion defined as “charcteristically incapable of spinning:” the Ercoupe.
